Though Hong Kong only recently started its vaccination programme and has seen signs of an easing in its outbreak of Covid-19, the city could be able to allow restricted or conditional travel in the next three to six months. Hong Kong Tourism Board Executive Director Dane Cheng offered that prediction in an interview with the South China Morning Post on March 2, 2021. But Cheng said that with many borders remaining shut, Hong Kong travellers will still find opportunities closer to home where they can rediscover the city through outdoor activities, wandering neighbourhoods and hotel staycations. He said the tourism board plans to roll out a wave of tours and staycation offers to revive local tourism.
