It has now been over one full month since the start of the shutdown and many workers, families, and service members are still without pay. The International President of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO, Sara Nelson delivered a speech to address President Trump's government shutdown and the danger it presents to American's safety, security, and economic stability.

The shutdown is impacting all areas of safety and security regarding air travel in the United States, from air traffic controllers, food inspectors, flight attendants and pilots, to the Transportation Security Administration - TSA workers, Transportation Security officers and law enforcement.

Nelson leaves Trump with this direct call to action: "If you don't show the leadership to bring your caucus to a vote to open the government today, then we're calling on the conscientious members of your caucus to do it for you. There is no excuse to continue this. This is not a political game. Open the government today."
