The conflict in Syria has displaced millions of civilians and killed hundreds of thousands of people.

Almost one million children have been left without parents, according to aid agencies.
At least 50.000 of them have escaped to Turkey, where some are cared for by charities.

“The smallest sound or movement gets them fearful and frightened. When that happens some of them want to leave immediately,” says Hatice Okur, a volunteer at an orphanage.

Al Jazeera's Mohammed Adow reports from Akcakale, Turkey.
