US says 200,000 Salvadorans must leave within 18 months


The US government has decided to end the temporary protected status of more than 260,000 immigrants from El Salvador.

Protesters rallied against the move outside the White House.

People from El Salvador were allowed to live and work in the US after two large earthquakes hit the country in 2001.
