To Read:

Why is it so easy for us to not be at peace, to feel lost and unfulfilled even we have so much going for us in life?

All of us want to live our lives to the fullest, and we try to do that by pursuing our dreams, yet often, we don’t even realise that we’re actually just chasing happiness.

When we pursue our dreams, we’re driven by a deep sense of purpose, where it’s not hard for us to live each day with fulfilment. When we chase happiness, we’re being dominated by our ego, and the nature of the ego is to encourage us to seek, to pursue, to not be content.

Our ego is home to all our needs and fears. It is constantly whispering to us that "we need this", or "we shouldn't let that go”… the ego’s purpose is to encourage us to always seek externally for proof that we are loved, significant, relevant, worthy, powerful.

This is why we take on the stress of achieving more and the pressure of looking a certain way and the urgency of needing someone to love us because it gives us so much significance.

Yet, nothing and nobody can give us the significance we seek because it's not theirs to give - we are already significant.

We need to learn to understand ourselves better, so we can see when we are being driven by our dreams and goals, and when we’re actually being driven by our ego - urging us to achieve more and be more and trying to distract us from the truth that we are already of value.

This is the gift of being human - we are already enough.

The only thing standing between us and fulfilment - isn't what we have or don't have, or who loves us or don’t, or what we've achieved or not achieved - it is the belief that our life is yet not enough.

Jim Carrey, the actor, said something incredibly powerful: "I wish people could realise all their dreams and wealth and fame, so that they can see that it's not where you're going to find your sense of completion.

What does living life to the fullest mean? This is a question we need to ask ourselves, because it's such a waste to find ourselves in pursuit of needing and wanting more only to realise when we’re old and grey that we don’t actually need more to be happy. Be happy, always.
