The GOP has proposed a scaled back $618 billion plan, which provides less than a third of the funding offered by Biden’s, and doesn’t include many Democratic priorities like funds for state and local governments or rental assistance. Psaki said that the meeting was ‘substantive and productive,’ but did not allude to Biden making any changes to his proposed $1.9 trillion package. Following the meeting, Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) told the press ‘I wouldn’t say that we came together on a package tonight.’

Psaki is also likely to comment on Biden’s threat to reimpose sanctions on Myanmar following the apparent military coup. Biden called the military takeover and detaining of various leaders ‘a direct assault on the country’s transition to democracy and the rule of law.’
