APPROVED COVID-19 VACCINES SHIPPED ACROSS THE U.S.: Officials from the World Health Organization hold a press conference on the latest developments in the COVID-19 pandemic. The United States has become the latest western nation to authorize Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine. Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Dr. Robert Redfield gave the official approval for Pfizer and BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine yesterday, allowing it to be administered in the U.S. for those over the age of 16. ‘This is the next step in our efforts to protect Americans, reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and help restore some normalcy to our lives and our country,’ Redfield said in a statement. The first shipments of the vaccine were sent out yesterday, and earlier this morning the first shot in the United States was administered at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Queens, New York. Health care workers on the frontlines and residents of nursing homes will be the first to receive the vaccinations.
