World Health Organization Holds a Briefing on the Coronavirus | LIVE | NowThis

2,000+ COVID-19 DEATHS IN THE U.S. PER DAY: Officials from the World Health Organization are holding a briefing to discuss the latest developments in the ongoing coronavirus pandemic as the United States continues to be the global epicenter, accounting for 24% of the world's cases and 19% of all deaths. Over the weekend, the U.S. reported a staggering almost 300,000 new cases in a single day. Pres. Trump, who has mostly kept out of the public eye for the past two months, tweeted that the U.S.'s new coronavirus numbers were ‘exaggerated’ and called them ‘fake news.’ Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading expert on infectious diseases, directly countered Trump’s tweet by telling NBC News on Sunday, ‘The numbers are real. We have well over 300,000 deaths. We’re averaging 2-3,000 deaths per day.' Fauci explained, ‘Those are real numbers, real people and real deaths.’
