As coronavirus variants continue to spread around the world, some drug manufacturers—including Pfizer and Moderna—have said they would be willing to change their vaccines to better fight the new strains, whereas the late trial vaccine from AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford is said to already protect against the coronavirus variant first discovered in the UK. University of Oxford researchers say that the vaccine is 74.6% effective against the new strain, whereas it is 84% effective against the original form of COVID-19.
