WORLD LEADERS PRIORITIZE THE CLIMATE CRISIS AT THE UNGA: Amid the ongoing 75th United Nations General Assembly, UN Secretary-General António Guterres convenes a roundtable on climate action to 'showcase high-impact solutions by governments and real economy leaders.' He will be joined by various world leaders as well as youth activists to discuss what economic steps governments can take right now to address the global climate crisis. Of the leaders joining the roundtable is British PM Boris Johnson, who will be addressing the entire General Assembly later today. He’s expected to say that the COVID-19 pandemic must not overshadow the ongoing climate crisis. ‘The UK will lead by example, keeping the environment on the global agenda and serving as a launch pad for a global green industrial revolution,’ Johnson’s prepared remarks say. ‘But no one country can turn the tide – it would be akin to bailing out a liner with a single bucket.’ He will also announce that the UK will host a virtual event in December to mark the fifth anniversary of the Paris climate agreement.
